Adam Roble has been elected President of the Oxford Union for Trinity term 2021. He won with 646 votes to his opponent Geneva Roy’s 443. The rest of the prospective Officers on his slate, ‘Create’, also beat out their opponents on the ‘Rebuild’ slate.
Molly Mantle has been elected Librarian with 705 votes, while Viren Shetty has been elected Treasurer with 678, and Kesaia Toganivalu as Secretary with 613.
The slate’s pledges include a digital membership card, cocktail invention competitions, an alumni reunion ball, a graduate-undergraduate mentorship scheme, and reduced membership fees.
This comes after a tumultuous Trinity term for the Oxford Union, which saw the election of RON for President for the first time ever, a hacked election, and finally the election of James Price, who graduated Oxford seven years prior.
Molly Mantle, elected Librarian, commented: “Honestly it’s an honour to have been trusted with these votes and I’m so excited to help Adam, Viren, Kesaia and the rest of the team achieve the pledges that we set out. It’s really just exciting to have a chance to change the union an[d] make it what I think we all want it to be.“
Adam Roble and Geneva Roy have both been contacted for comment.
